Jívová combines cultural heritage, archaeological history and protected landscapes.

Culture

The complex of the “Kostel sv. Bartoloměje” church in Jívová is listed as an immovable cultural monument in the central register of monuments of the Czech Republic. The Baroque church was built between 1717 and 1720. Its interior contains several paintings and, in particular, frescoes by the Olomouc Baroque painter Jan Kryštof Handke. The complex also includes a low rubble-stone wall around the former cemetery with two masonry entrance gates, as well as a morgue with a hipped roof.

History

The Tepenec archaeological site comprises a Late Bronze Age hillfort with preserved remains of a rampart and ditch. It also includes the remains of a medieval castle founded by Charles IV around 1340.

Nature

The protected Údolí Bystřice area covers the cadastral territory of Jívová and has an area of 751 hectares. Údolí Bystřice contains preserved beech and scree forests, as well as rock formations, frost cliffs and block streams.

Landscape

The Skalice mountain is located in the immediate vicinity of Jívová. The Stráž, Růžový Kopec and Slunečná mountains are also located around Jívová.

Surroundings

The wider regional surroundings of Jívová include the Vildštejn ruins, the Kostel Panny Marie Sněžné church, the Kostel sv.Michala church and Čechovy sady park.

Getting Around

The Tour de Wanzl route runs mostly along paved roads, features significant changes in elevation and is also suitable for trekking bikes. A four-kilometre section of Údolí Bystřice that is attractive to tourists runs between the Jívová, Hrubá Voda and Smilov railway stops.
