Koválovice-Osíčany: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Koválovice-Osíčany combines a vibrant culture of remembrance with protected natural features. The Museum of the Border Guard and the SNB permanently exhibits objects and documents about the lives and struggles of Czech border guards. It was founded by a retiree who served with the Ministry of the Interior’s Border Guard in the 1960s. The natural features include the “Koválovické lípy”, a protected group of two small-leaved lime trees (Tilia cordata) in the cadastral area of Koválovice u Tištína in the municipality of Koválovice-Osíčany.

Culture and history

A memorial plaque to General Josef Kroutil was added to the Koválovice war memorial for those who fell in the First World War in 1993. A war memorial for those who fell in the First World War in the centre of Koválovice bears the names of twelve fallen residents of the village. The Chapel of Saint Dominic in Koválovice is one of the municipality’s places of interest. In Osíčany, the Chapel of the Virgin Mary has a bell tower. Koválovice is also home to a church dedicated to Saint Anthony, dating from 1947.

Masopust is a local tradition held annually in Koválovice-Osíčany. The Poldr in Koválovice-Osíčany is a popular place for walks in nature. In addition, the Litenčické cycling routes form a network of marked local cycle paths connecting municipalities and points of interest in the gently rolling landscape of the Litenčická pahorkatina.
