Pěnčín: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Pěnčín lies on a plateau at an elevation of about 350 metres above sea level, in the southernmost part of the Zábřežská vrchovina highlands. Its townscape has an irregular three-pointed star-shaped layout.

Nature and Townscape

In the upper part of Pěnčín, you can walk around Nebeský Pond. Močilka Pond, also called Nebeský, has neither an inflow nor an outflow and is fed by underground springs.

Culture and History

The first documented mention of Pěnčín dates from 1279 and names Ratmír of Pěnčín. From the late 15th to the early 16th century, Pěnčín belonged to the monastery of the Olomouc Canons Regular. There are also traces of Lusatian culture in the town.

The Chapel of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary was built by the Augustinians in the 18th century. Its central layout is extended by towers on the western side; the chapel also retains a bell dating from 1769. The Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Pěnčín was built in 1934 and is connected to a family residence. At the beginning of the 1970s, it was decorated with sgraffito by the painter and stucco artist František Flasar. Services are regularly held in this church at 10:00 a.m. on the first Sunday of every month.

Near Pěnčín, the Milník víry monument on Číhadlo Hill commemorates Jan Hus and Jan Amos Comenius.

Cycling Routes and Events

Cycling Route No. 6033 starts in Pěnčín. Route 5028 runs from the “Zastávka” signpost or junction in Pěnčín to Čechy pod Kosířem.

Pěnčínský utopenec is a boat race on Močilka Pond. The municipality reported on the second edition on 16 August 2026.
