Ivaň: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

In the centre of Ivaň, the original historic settlement structure is considered valuable and shapes the municipality’s overall appearance.

Landscape

Ivaň lies in the flat terrain of the Hornomoravský úval at an average elevation of 172 metres. The village is also located in an intensively cultivated, flat Haná landscape.

Culture and history

The first written mention of Ivaň dates from 1359. In the centre stands the chapel “Kaple sv. Floriána”, built in 1898; in front of it is a stone cross dating from 1883. In the eastern part of Ivaň, opposite the bus stop, stands a statue of the Virgin Mary dating from 1889.

On the north-eastern edge of Ivaň, on the access road from Tovačov, stands the statue “Socha sv. Jana z Nepomuku”, which was restored in 1946. Another stone cross dating from 1863 is located in the northern part of the cadastral area on the field path “Pod hrubčickou silnicí”. On the eastern edge of the cadastral area stands the Pietà group “Sousoší Piety” beside a field path in a small grove.

North-west of Ivaň, below the water tower, stands the wayside cross “Boží muka”, which is a protected cultural monument. Archaeological finds from the present-day area of Ivaň include urns of various shapes, bowls, spindle whorls, a bronze bracelet and a bronze fibula.

Sport and recreation

The orange sports field is used for public recreation and sporting activities, particularly for children and young people.
