Culture and History

Grymov was founded in 1787 through the partitioning of the former Radslavice estate, creating 24 farmsteads. Between 1860 and 1863, the Chapel of Saint John the Baptist was built on the village square in place of a bell tower. The chapel is a cultural monument in Grymov, and a statue of Marie Hostýnská stands in front of it.

In the garden by the municipal barn stands the Hranečník dating from 1768, which is registered as an immovable cultural monument in the Central Register of Immovable Cultural Monuments. Grymov has also preserved the Easter traditions of Velikonoční klepání and Pomlázka, also known as Tatarování.

Trails and Landscape

The cycle path near Grymov is connected to Cycle Route No. 6035 between Nad Hubertem, Lhota, Pavlovice u Přerova and Radslavice. It also forms part of the Cyklostezka Bečva cycle path and the Krakow–Moravia–Vienna Greenway cycle route.

The cycle path along the Bečva is suitable for walking, running, cycling and inline skating. The field paths in Grymov are lined with rows of trees and well-maintained greenery.

Sports and Races

The sports complex by the Bečva has a tennis court. Children also take part in Grymovská desítka on shorter courses. Grymovská desítka is a spring race on paved field paths; the course was extended to 10 kilometres in 2011.

At Grymovská podkova, participants can run a 4-kilometre course; there is a short circuit for children. Grymovská podkova is an 8.2-kilometre cross-country race; the course runs mostly over unpaved surfaces, along the edge of a field, across a racetrack site and along field paths.

History and Transport

After the 1880 flood, which destroyed the old crossing at Vrbovec, a bridge was built in 1881.

Bus services to Grymov are provided as part of the public transport system of the Olomouc Region; on weekdays, services run approximately every two hours.
