Mankovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The most important landmark in Mankovice is the Kostel Navštívení Panny Marie church. It was built in 1795 to replace an older, dilapidated wooden church. Opposite the church, on a small meadow between the houses, stands the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk, erected in 1761. The historic Amber Road also ran through Mankovice along the Odra Corridor.

Culture and History

The Chapel of the Virgin Mary, also called Weißova kaple, has been protected as a historic monument since 19 April 2024. It was already in existence or had just been completed in 1818.

Moravian Brethren Park

The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk, restored in 2023, became part of Moravian Brethren Park. When it opened, the park was accessible to visitors around the clock and provided space for recreation and relaxation. The park has drinking water from a restored drinking fountain and an original well; both are edged with stones from the local banks of the Odra.

Information boards in the park present the history of the Moravian Brethren through three thematic areas: from Jan Hus to the exile of Jan Amos Komenský, the journey to Herrnhut, and life in the missions and Matouš Stach in Greenland.

Landscape Along the Odra

The boundary of the CHKO Poodří Protected Landscape Area begins at Mankovice railway station. Meandry staré Odry is a natural monument.
