Hrčava: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Hrčava has a special landmark in the Hrčavské Trojmezí: this is where the borders of the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia meet. Three granite monoliths mark the border point, near which there is a covered wooden shelter.

Border Point and Landscape

A yellow-marked trail leads from the centre of Hrčava over 2 km to the Hrčavské Trojmezí. The Czech access route runs between wooden houses through a village on a plateau characterised by meadows and small fields.

Paths Around Hrčava

A red-marked hiking trail also leads from Hrčava over 5.5 km to Gírová. The 11 km “Kolem Trojmezí” route begins in Hrčava and leads via Jaworzynka and Čierne back to Hrčava.

Hrčava lies at kilometre 10.9 on the “Za den přes tři státy” route. There, the trail passes the wooden Church of St Cyril and Methodius, the three granite monoliths and the Polish border crossing.

Culture and Local History

The Church of St Cyril and Methodius in Hrčava is registered as an immovable cultural monument under the number ÚSKP 107055. The wooden church was built in 1936, designed by Karel Náhůnek, and features a carved wooden baptismal font by Ondřej Zogata, who came from Hrčava.

On the outside, the church combines a wooden construction typical of the Těšín region with modern architectural elements inside. It is considered the youngest traditionally designed wooden church in the Czech Republic and an important example of sacred interwar architecture.

The regional mini-museum in Hrčava’s primary school can be visited accompanied by Mr Vojkovský; further information is available in the self-service shop. An old customs house still stands on a forest path between Hrčava and Jaworzynka; it primarily protected the border from smugglers.

The Cyril and Methodius pilgrimage takes place annually in Hrčava on 5 July. Lurdská jeskyně was established as a place of worship and consecrated on 5 July 1937 on the occasion of the Hrčava pilgrimage. According to tradition, the water at the grotto is said to heal eye ailments.

A signposted car park with sufficient capacity is available at the entrance to Hrčava. Hrčava can be reached by bus from Mosty u Jablunkova railway station.
