Třinec: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Třinec showcases its history in places with very different characters. The Museum of the Třinec Ironworks and the Town of Třinec is open to the public. The Church of St Albert in Třinec also provides a striking historical landmark: the Neo-Gothic church was built between 1882 and 1885 and, together with the adjacent rectory, has been listed as a protected monument since 2010.

Culture

The Vápenná pec Jasiowka lime kiln is located in Třinec’s Borek district. Lime was produced there until the 1960s. Also in Borek are the Dřevěnky na Borku, two log houses dating from 1878 that are registered cultural monuments. Visitors can view four residential units there and learn how people used to live, work and make a living.

The Galerie města Třince was established on 1 April 2012 with the aim of creating a professional exhibition space with a curatorial programme in Třinec. Today, it makes contemporary art accessible to the public through exhibitions of loaned works. Together with the Malá Galerie in the Třinec Library, it also offers art courses and workshops to the public. These include PŘIJĎ TVOŘIT, a regular creative workshop for families with children aged 6 to 12.

Nature

The Naučná stezka na Jahodné educational trail runs for 2,700 metres across Jahodná Hill. The route passes through the hill’s flora and fauna, as well as woodland and meadows, and has 12 stops. It begins at the Dolní Lištná, Sosna nemocnice bus stop, served by bus routes 715 and 701.

At Javorový, visitors can try paragliding, including tandem flights. Winter activities there include ski slopes and cross-country skiing trails.

Activities

In the area with the mini-golf course and children’s rope park, a forest observation station invites visitors to identify forest animals such as deer, squirrels and foxes and hear their calls through playful observation tasks, a bird silhouette and a mobile app. The children’s rope park is a nature-oriented leisure area where participants overcome obstacles made of ropes, nets and wooden beams between the trees. Třinec’s forest park is also home to the STARS Třinec mini-golf course, with 18 holes.

KUKni takes place regularly at the Třinec Library for younger children and their parents. The meeting is aimed at children aged 3 to 6 and combines working with books with movement and creative activities.

Events

The M. Koperník Observatory opened to the public in 1955. It currently offers, among other things, observations of the Moon. The WERK ARENA Tour offers another perspective on Třinec, giving visitors a comprehensive tour of the home venue of HC Oceláři Třinec. The tour includes the VIP areas apart from GOLD VIP, the ice rink with the timekeeping box, players’ benches and penalty benches, the first team’s changing room with fitness room, the mixed zone and the press centre. On request, the tour can also be conducted in English or Polish; this must be requested at least one week in advance.

ČteFesT takes place every year around the turn of May and June at the library, in Třinec and in the mountains. The programme includes author readings, discussions, workshops, exhibitions, concerts and informal gatherings.
