Dolni Lomna: Apartments and Holiday Homes
Dolní Lomná can be explored through nature, local history, and themed trails.
Nature
The Mionší educational trail runs along the edge of the Mionší primeval forest. This forest is protected as a national nature reserve and is considered one of the best-preserved forest complexes in the Moravian part of the Western Carpathians.
The Jestřábí Waterfall is located on a small tributary of the Jestřábí stream and is 3 meters high. The Rozhledna Tetřev lookout tower offers views of the surrounding mountain ridges and valleys of the Moravian-Silesian Beskids; it also features an indoor exhibition about the local fauna and flora.
Culture and History
The Lomňanské Museum is housed in the wooden building of Lomná’s original school, dating from 1852. It collects the historical heritage of the inhabitants of Lomná in the form of chronicles, photo albums, recordings of older residents, and original exhibits. Every year, the Lomňanské Museum hosts carriage races, an autumn market, Easter and Christmas exhibitions, as well as exhibitions of nativity scenes and historical photographs.
The Zbojnická Trail is a wooden site in the heart of Dolní Lomná that tells the story of robbers, the history of the Lomná Valley, and the people who lived there. The Zbojnická Trail includes a rope center, a climbing wall, slides, climbing frames, and wooden carvings on display. The Zemědělský dvorek includes a wooden hay barn with an exhibition of traditional sheep’s milk products.
Trails and Discoveries
The Stezka krajinou dávných horalů trail starts at the information center on Matyščina louka and is primarily suitable for pedestrians. Seven wooden panels along the Stezka krajinou dávných horalů provide insights into the lives and occupations, predominantly connected with forestry, of the people who lived there more than 100 years ago.
The information center in Dolní Lomná is a starting point for the municipality’s educational trails. The URSUS centrum presents the local mountain ecosystem with a 3D film about the Beskids, an interactive presentation of the local fauna, a large model of the Beskids, and an interactive garden. It offers environmental programs, including field trips, for children, families, and the general public.
The cycle path in the Lomná Valley is used by cyclists and inline skaters and serves as a cross-country skiing trail in winter.
