Metylovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Metylovice is home to the stone Church of All Saints, which is protected as a cultural monument. It was built in 1577 in the Gothic style on the site of an earlier wooden church and was later modified in the Baroque style; in 1653, it was consecrated by Bishop Gobbár of Olomouc.

History and Crafts

The “Kožane město” Municipal Museum was opened on 7 August 2010 in the premises of a former strap workshop. In the past, the whip from Metylovice was known throughout the region and beyond the present-day borders of the Czech Republic, and it also became known overseas. “The Woodcut of Cyril and Methodius” is a wooden relief by the renowned woodcarver Boris Zvada.

Landscape and Pilgrimage

The mountains of Skalka, Ostrá, Kyčera and Kykulka are located around Metylovice. Čupek is a popular pilgrimage site; the traditional pilgrimage takes place there on 5 July, the feast of Saints Cyril and Methodius.

Route and Accessibility

The Metylovice–Ondřejník route runs from Čupek via the “Metylovice, church” bus stop to Ondřejník and Skalka; the route can be started at this bus stop. It is described as moderately difficult and is considered suitable for pedestrians, cyclists and children. The summit of Čupek can be reached on foot, by bicycle, by scooter and with a pram.
