Baška: Holiday apartments and houses

The Baška Reservoir is primarily used for recreation and is suitable for swimming and water sports; however, it is not intended as a source of drinking water. A walking path approximately 3 km long runs along its shores and offers views of the surrounding landscape.

Hiking

Several signposted trails are also part of Baška’s character. The hiking loop “To the Most Beautiful Sunsets” passes by the Baška Reservoir and Baška railway station; it is 21 km long and of moderate difficulty. The “Okolo Bašky cestička” tourist march is documented in Baška; one documented edition was 14 km long.

Culture

The Roman Catholic Church of St. Wenceslas in Baška is a filial church of the Skalice parish. It was solemnly consecrated on 22 October 1933 and built through the commitment of dedicated members of the St. Wenceslas Church Unit.

A chapel was consecrated near the “Kotva” restaurant in Baška during a local celebration. According to local legend, the chapel on Radovým was built at a site where a church is said to have once stood.

Events and Cuisine

Baška Žije is a one-day music festival on the shores of the Baška Reservoir and takes place from 2 p.m. to midnight. The festival had already been held for the fourth time.

The GulášFest is a culinary competition involving the preparation of goulash in a cauldron. Non-competition goulash dishes are available for public tasting; this is followed by an audience vote and the decision of a professional jury.
