Vendryně combines local history with marked trails for hiking and cycling tours.

Culture and local history

Kostel sv. Kateřiny in Vendryně is a single-nave, masonry church in the Gothic style. Its tower housed a particularly shaped bell, which was probably cast in the mid-15th century by the bell founder Hans Freudenthal. A Baroque cross from 1790 stands in the nearby cemetery.

The local “Wopiynky” in Vendryně were lime kilns in which the limestone quarried in Vendryně was processed. The local history thus also points to the former extraction of lime.

The Pamětní síň obce Vendryně has irregular opening hours and can be visited by prior arrangement. A regular tour lasts 30 to 45 minutes.

Hiking and circular trails

The two restored Vápenné pece are located 2 km from the Vendryně railway stop; from there, a green hiking trail leads to them. They serve to help visitors learn about the history of this area and provide a place for recreation.

The “Za krásami vendryňské přírody” trail consists of two independent circular routes. The two sections are approximately 10 km and 22 km long, respectively, and can be walked separately as half-day hikes or together as a full-day tour.

Cycling

The Vendryňský kotár cycling route, ceremonially opened and reconstructed on May 10, 2008, is marked with information signs. The Vendryňský kotár cycling race for children and adults, held for the mayor’s cup, takes place on the route every year.
