Ostravice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
The Lysá hora educational trail leads from Ostravice to the summit and is 16.5 kilometres long. Along the route, 15 stations provide information; at the summit, there are two additional information boards near the meteorological station. The educational trail can be started at two locations at Ostravice railway station. The section from Ostravice to the summit follows the red-marked hiking trail and provides information about the legend of the robber Ondráš, caves and treasures, the former landscape, and the region’s flora and fauna.
Since its renovation in 1999, Dřevjanka U Zbuja has served as a mountain hut.
Culture and History
Srub Petra Bezruče preserves the living area of the poet’s summer house in its original form, including the interior furnishings designed by Petr Bezruč himself. The adjacent wooden shed houses the exhibition “Krajem Petra Bezruče”, established in 1983. When visiting Srub Petra Bezruče, guests can discover the authentic surroundings of the summer house, the poet’s life stories, and the landscape below the Beskids, whose difficult past Petr Bezruč captured in his major work “Slezské písně”.
“Ráj dřevěných soch” is a permanent exhibition of carvings by woodcarver Luděk Vančura next to the Ostravice municipal office in the Biskupská Garden. The art group named after Petr Bezruč was founded in 1970. Until 2017, its exhibition was held annually in Ostravice; since 2019, it has taken place in July in the gymnasium of the primary school in Ostravice and lasts approximately four weeks.
The Roman Catholic church in Ostravice was built in 1788–1789 in the so-called folk style with Baroque elements and has been a cultural monument of the Czech Republic since 1999. It features a painting by B. Herbert from 1706 above the altar.
