Dolní Lhota: Apartments and Holiday Homes
Dolní Lhota combines historical references dating back to 1377 with distinctive buildings, the Porubka stream, and paths through the village and forest. At the same time, Dolní Lhota is part of the Ostravsko tourism region, which is suitable for short recreational stays, hiking, and cycling. Tram line 915005 connects Ostrava, Dolní Lhota, and Budišovice.
Geographical Setting
Dolní Lhota lies on the left bank of the middle course of the Porubka stream. In addition to the stream, the municipality has marked paths, an educational trail through the local forest, and several named cycling routes.
Culture
Several memorial sites form part of the area's history and character. A monument in the local cemetery commemorates fallen tank crews. Near the school stands a monument to T. G. Masaryk, the founder of the Czechoslovak state and its first president. The Church of St. Cyril and Methodius is a distinctive architectural landmark in the townscape of Dolní Lhota.
The village chapels are also associated with specific years and events. Following its restoration in 2023, the village chapel was made accessible so that passers-by can look inside. The new chapel was consecrated on 8 August 2004 after extensive renovation. Thus, Dolní Lhota's cultural landscape brings historical memories and more recent building developments together.
Nature
The educational trail introduces visitors in a playful way to interesting plant and animal species found in the local forest. It is approximately 1 km long and has 17 learning stations.
Cycling
Several specific routes run through or to Dolní Lhota. Cycling route 6199 leads from Vřesina towards Horní Lhota through the village. Within the municipality, it follows a forest path alongside a yellow hiking trail marking; an information board stands near the bicycle tram stop. Dolní Lhota also has a cycle path and KČT hiking trail markings.
Another connection is provided by the Radegast Slezsko cycling trail. It leads from Velká Polom to Dolní Lhota and runs from the town centre together with cycling route 6199 along Lesní Street. The routes mentioned therefore differ in their course and in their respective connections to the surrounding towns, while partially converging in the town centre.
Events
Sporting events and local activities also complement the description. The 8th edition of the Dolnolhotský BAJK mountain bike race is scheduled to take place in Dolní Lhota on Saturday, 19 June 2027. Dolnolhotský BAJK also includes mountain bike races for children in categories K and H.
A BEERFEST with refreshments such as pancakes, cake, sausages in rolls, and potato pancakes was announced for Dolnolhotský Škrpál. The Obora Trail Run offered 5 km and 10 km courses as well as children's races over distances from 100 to 900 m. The two event references therefore describe different forms of the local programme: an announced festival with specific refreshments and a run with separate course lengths, including children's races.
