Bordovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Bordovice stretches for approximately 2 km along the banks of the Lichnovský potok. The valley is enclosed by high slopes, reaching 608 m at Na Peklech in the northwest and 918 m at Velký Javorník in the southeast.

Landscape

In the immediate surroundings, Velký Kámen is a 3.649 ha nature monument that protects an extensive exposure of sandstone layers as well as a naturally developed forest ecosystem with high biodiversity. Part of Bordovice lies within the Beskids Protected Landscape Area (CHKO Beskydy); another part of Bordovice lies within the Podbeskydská pahorkatina Nature Park.

Culture and History

Bordovice is home to a single registered immovable cultural monument: the Roubený dům. The detached, single-storey timber building constructed using the log-building method has a gabled roof, vertically boarded gables, a ventilation opening and boarding beneath the roof. The Roubený dům dates from the first half of the 19th century and was the birthplace of partisan Josef Drozd.

Bordovice was first mentioned in 1584 and remained closely connected with the Hukvaldy estate. The origins of Bordovice are traditionally placed in the 13th century; it is generally assumed that the municipality was founded on land belonging to the Hukvaldy estate that became available after forest areas were cleared.

In 1568, an ironworks in Bordovice was purchased by the nobleman Kašpar Boček; the ironworks stood on the site of Mr Bumbala's smithy. The village's masonry chapel was completed in 1877, consecrated in 1894 and held services for the first time in 1925.

Hiking Trails

The green-marked KČT hiking trail 4840 runs along the southern border of Bordovice from Frenštát pod Radhoštěm to Velký Javorník and continues via Malý Javorník to Rožnov pod Radhoštěm.

The hiking connection from Velký Javorník to the Bordovice bus stop initially follows a green-marked route to Nad Horečkami (1.7 km) and then a yellow-marked route to the Bordovice bus stop (4.3 km in total). The “Bordovice, rozc.” bus stop has a bus bay and a passenger shelter in at least one direction of travel.

In the immediate surroundings is the Velký Javorník lookout tower, a 25.915 m-high wooden tower on the 918 m-high summit of the same name, with two viewing platforms. From the Velký Javorník lookout tower, the view in the immediate surroundings extends across the Frenštátská brázda, the front range of the Beskids to Lysá hora, Ondřejník, Poodří, Štramberk and the Veřovické vrchy.

The Gulášové slavnosti were held for the fourth time and involved eight cooking teams.
