Radostov: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
History
Radostov bears the distinctive traces of its history: a former fortress consisted of a raised central hill surrounded by a ditch and an embankment. Immediately south of the present-day village centre, in the floodplain of the Radostovský potok, there was also a former medieval manor.
The finds indicate that the manor was in use between the transition from the 13th to the 14th century and the end of the 15th century. The former manor was built in two partially overlapping construction phases. In 1395, Aldyk de Radostow is named as the owner of the village of Starý Radostov.
Starý Radostov forms the western part of the settlement, while Nový Radostov lies in the eastern part. The Radostovský potok separates the two parts of the village. Other historical details include a stone cross dating from 1887. The mill now known as “Mlýnek” is marked on older maps as “Radostovský mlýn” and “Radostower Mühle”.
Nature
Forests still surround Radostov on three sides. The bodies of water include the Radostovský potok, two ponds designated for private fish farming and a fire-water reservoir. In addition to their economic and recreational functions, these bodies of water also serve as retention basins.
The fire station building is located in the village centre; it has a bell tower. The local amenities also include Hunting Lodge No. 47, which belongs to and is maintained by Myslivecký spolek Libčanská dubina. Radostov has no dedicated cycling infrastructure.
Surroundings
Paths of regional significance also pass through the village: the “Královéhradecký okruh na koni” leads through Radostov to Hrádek u Nechanic Château. The 28.1 km-long Hradecko cycling route “Proti proudu času” also runs through Radíkovice and Těchlovice in the surrounding area and includes Hrádek u Nechanic.
