Sovětice: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Sovětice lies on the right bank of the Bystřice River. The Bystřice European protected area (CZ0523264) runs through the municipality, for which the priority species Velevrub tupý is listed.

Nature

The Bystřice natural monument (PP Bystřice) is located in the eastern part of the cadastral area of Sovětice. Protected landscape features in the area include forests, watercourses, ponds and valley floodplains.

The nearby surroundings include Svíb Hill, Nad Lysicí Hill [Cerekvice nad Bystřicí], and the hill (Na příbytkách) [Všestary-Lípa]. Maxinec Mountain (MLázovický chlum) lies in the wider regional surroundings of Sovětice.

History and culture

The first written mention of Sovětice dates from 1369. Ceramic urn fragments dating from the 6th to the 9th century AD were found in Sovětice. Skalka Hill probably served as a rear support position for the Prussian artillery.

The monument to those who fell in the First World War depicts a woman holding a bouquet of flowers and a military helmet; plaques on the pedestal list the names of the fallen. The Church of Svatý Jiří lies in the wider regional surroundings of Sovětice.

Activities

In Sovětice, visitors can use a multi-purpose sports court offering tennis, nohejbal, volleyball, floorball and basketball, as well as a training wall. The connected cycle route provides a 3 km-long opportunity for an outing on inline skates or roller skates. Sovětice is connected to cycle routes linking three surrounding municipalities.
