Stará Voda: Holiday Apartments and Houses

The Church of St. Wenceslas in Stará Voda dates back to the 14th century. Built as a Gothic brick church in the second half of the 14th century, it was later remodelled in the Early Baroque style. It has stood for six centuries and is one of the oldest churches in the Chlumecko region. Stará Voda also has a wooden bell tower from the 16th century, which houses a bell dedicated to St. Wenceslas.

Culture and History

The Starovodský Spring is also closely connected with the history of the village. It is enclosed by concrete rings and covered with a lid to keep the water clean. According to tradition, the name Stará Voda derives from a spring that Prince Václav found after a long search. The Church of Svatý Jiří is also located in the vicinity of Stará Voda; Zámek Kačina Castle lies in the wider surrounding region.

Landscape

Stará Voda is situated in flat terrain. The Starovodský potok stream flows north of the village. The hills of Kozí hora, Soudný and Zástava are located in the nearby area. Kamenec Mountain lies in the vicinity of Stará Voda.

Cycling

Cycle Route No. 4199 from Praskačka to Libice nad Cidlinou passes through Stará Voda. It runs on asphalt or paved surfaces and is suitable for all types of bicycles.
