Třebechovice Pod Orebem: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Třebechovice pod Orebem is home to the Třebechovický Proboštův betlém, the only nativity scene in the Czech Republic to have been declared a national cultural monument in 1999. Including its mechanism, the work was made entirely of wood more than a century ago and comprises more than 2,000 carved parts covering an area of 6.9 × 1.9 × 2.2 metres.

Culture and History

The Třebechovické muzeum betlémů specialises in documenting static and mechanical nativity scenes. It is located at Masarykovo náměstí 1426, 503 46 Třebechovice pod Orebem. During an individual visit to the Třebechovické muzeum betlémů, visitors can see the Probošt mechanism of the nativity scene, including its unique wooden mechanism.

The Evangelical Church in Třebechovice was built between 1876 and 1880 in the Pseudo-Romanesque style. The Church of St Andrew in Třebechovice is a Baroque church built between 1767 and 1771. On Oreb, the Church of Božího Těla is listed as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. The RaDost Gallery in Třebechovice can also be visited outside regular opening hours by telephone appointment.

Trails and Walks

The Naučná stezka Oreb educational trail begins at Masarykovo náměstí, leads up to Oreb and returns to the square via Hajnišův mlýn. Its six stops present the history of the buildings and monuments along the route. Třebechovická stopa also includes a short sightseeing circuit of approximately 3 kilometres.

The cultural events organised by the local cultural centre at the Museum of Nativity Scenes in Třebechovice include the “Around Oreb” cycling tour.

Water and Landscape

The artificial watercourse Alba, also locally known as Vantroka, was created as early as the first half of the 16th century to supply a system of ponds, mills and sawmills with water. Alba flows via Častolovice, Týniště nad Orlicí and the forests near Bědovice to the centre of Třebechovice pod Orebem, where it flows into the Dědina.
