Bašnice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Bašnice is located in the Podchlumí microregion. Its sandstone deposits shaped the local architecture and provided a livelihood for the stonemasons and sculptors working there.

History

Bašnice was formerly also known as Bašněves. The first record of the former fortress of Bašnice dates from 1499. According to tradition, it stood near the bridge over the Bašnický potok and not far from the bell tower. By 1542, the fortress had already been abandoned.

Monuments

At the eastern edge of Bašnice, at the junction toward Milovice u Hořic, there is a stone cross on a column. The stone cross in Bašnice dates from 1767 and was restored in 2009. In the centre of the village, in an open area at the junction toward Bříšťany, there is a monument to those who fell in the First World War. It is dated 1928; the granite plaque dates from 1921, and the monument was restored in 2009.

Nature

Bašnický les west of Bašnice has been a protected natural monument since 1990. The forest also contains Slavic burial mounds from the 9th century.

Cycling Route

The “Zámecká cyklotrasa Hořice” cycling route passes through Bašnice between Milovice and Dobrá Voda u Hořic. It is suitable for trekking bikes and, where appropriate, also for road bikes, and runs along paved roads.

On Site

There is a public children’s playground in Bašnice near the Sokolovna. It was built in 2013 and is intended for children aged 3 to 12. Borrowing from the Bašnice library is free of charge.
