On Valchovská stráň, the Boží muka wayside shrine was converted into a memorial in 1866 for the many soldiers of the Imperial-Royal 18th Infantry Regiment who fell during the attack on Zámezí.

History and culture

Station no. 11, Zámezí, on the educational trail “Bitva u Jičína 29. června 1866” received a new information panel in 2023. At the Vlastivědné muzeum a galerie v Železnici, the “Válka 1866” exhibition displays objects belonging to both sides of the conflict, numerous finds from the battlefield, a map of the battlefield, and photographs of war memorials in Železnice and the surrounding area.

The churches of Valdštejn and Lázně are also located in the wider regional surroundings of Zámezí.

Nature and landscape

Železnice lies on the edge of the CHKO Český Ráj and is an ideal starting point for tourist trails. The Prachovské skály can be visited within 10 km of Železnice.

Přivýšina is a mountain in the immediate surroundings of Zámezí, as is Tábor. Střelečská hůra is a mountain in the surroundings of Zámezí; Maxinec (MLázovický chlum) is also a mountain in this area.
