Rokytňany: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Site of Community Importance Dymokursko (code CZ0210101) includes the cadastral area of Dolní Rokytňany.

Nature

The Natura 2000 site Dymokursko extends into the southern edge of the Rokytňany planning area and protects floodplain forests, oak-hornbeam forests and old acidic oak forests, Eurosiberian steppe oak forests, standing waters, and extensively mown meadows.

Rokytňanský rybník is one of the bodies of water in the Rokytňany planning area. A breeding occurrence of the Eurasian bittern (Botaurus stellaris) was documented at Rokytňanský rybník in Dolní Rokytňany in 1988.

History

Archaeological finds show that Dolní Rokytňany has been inhabited since around the end of the 14th century. The archaeological finds indicate that a historically important road to Central Bohemia ran through Dolní Rokytňany. Dolní Rokytňany was first mentioned in writing in 1381; in the mid-16th century, it was referred to as Velké Rokytňany.

Denarii dating from the first third of the 13th century were found in Dolní Rokytňany. Prague groschen dating from the 15th century were also found there.

Culture

Dolní Rokytňany is home to a column with a statue of the crucified Christ. It is listed in the Central List of Cultural Monuments of the Czech Republic under registration number 52195/6-6305.

The sandstone cross in Dolní Rokytňany dates from 1868.

Dětenice Chateau is located in the immediate vicinity of Rokytňany and is known for its medieval tavern and Baroque chateau. Staré Hrady Chateau is located in the vicinity of Rokytňany and offers fairy-tale tours for families with children.
