Vinec: Vacation Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Church of St. Nicholas in Vinec is one of the most significant Romanesque religious buildings in Bohemia. Since 2008, it has been a national cultural monument of the Czech Republic.

Culture and History

The portal of the Church of St. Nicholas in Vinec is decorated with columns and a relief depicting the Crucifixion. Its unusual layout consists of a square nave and a polygonal presbytery.

The protected church complex includes a cemetery wall with a gate, property no. 1757/2, as well as a fragment of a stone cross, property no. 1757/3. It was possible to visit the interior of the church; contact with a guide was available at the cemetery gate.

Vinec's protected cultural heritage includes House No. 45, a two-storey log house with an arcaded gallery dating from 1803. Only the residential section, property no. 3617, is protected. The house was part of a former large farmstead on the western edge of Vinec; only the aforementioned House No. 45 remains of its historic buildings.

The mill in Vinec was built in 1813 and had six millstones. The mill site includes a preserved silo dating from 1932, bearing the emblem of Družstevní závody Dražice on its facade. In Podvinec, on the banks of the Jizera, a newly renovated small hydroelectric power station stands opposite a mill that was abandoned long ago.

Paths along the Jizera

On the way to Vinec, Route 17 of the Jizera Greenway runs along the Jizera. Cycle Route No. 143 passes through Vinec between Krnsko and Čejetice. A red-marked hiking trail also leads from Krnsko along the Jizera River to Vinec.

In the broader regional context, the Jizera Greenway is suitable for cyclists, hikers and families with children. It connects natural landscapes with cultural monuments.
