Klášter Hradiště Nad Jizerou: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The history of Klášter Hradiště nad Jizerou begins with the founding of the monastery in 1145 and its destruction by the Hussites in 1420. The monastery ruins were converted into a château and transformed into a brewery in 1852.

Culture

The main portal of the original monastery has been preserved in the former monastery courtyard. In the central part of the complex, the north portal stands as a free-standing wall; the stepped portal ends in a pointed arch and is richly decorated with plant ornaments.

The Klášter Brewery has rock cellars almost 20 metres deep, where the beer continues to ferment and mature to this day. Tours of the Klášter Brewery have been suspended until further notice for technical reasons.

The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary is a single-nave Gothic-Renaissance filial church and is state-protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. The church was built around 1560 and preserves an Early Gothic portal on the northern side of its nave.

The preserved crypt and the roofed fragment of the presbytery were reconstructed in 1997. The crypt was intended as a burial place for important members of the monastery; an archaeological investigation found graves carved into the rock inside it. The monastery crypt is accessible by prior arrangement; the keys can be borrowed from the municipal office.

Routes

Cycle Route 223 leads via Svijany and Mnichovo Hradiště to Klášter Hradiště nad Jizerou. A 55 km circular cycle route from Mladá Boleslav via Mnichovo Hradiště and back passes through Klášter Hradiště nad Jizerou and by its former château-brewery complex.

A blue hiking trail leads along a 17.3 km, five-hour route from Mnichovo Hradiště to Klášter Hradiště nad Jizerou.

Water

Nearby, the section of the Jizera between Mnichovo Hradiště and Mladá Boleslav is considered suitable for beginners and families. The four weirs along this section are not navigated.

Near the brewery restaurant Restaurace Skála, there is an opportunity to launch a boat; a boat should be reserved in good time.
