Strenice: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The Church of Saint Bartholomew in Strenice is mentioned for the first time in 1362. The protected ensemble comprises the church, an ossuary, an enclosing wall, and gates.

Culture and history

The Málkov castle ruins are a significant archaeological site dating from the Late Middle Ages. They are located on a wooded promontory southeast of Strenice and north of Podčejky, but are inaccessible because they lie within a game park that is closed to the public.

The Čejky archaeological site is located in the cadastral area of Strenice, approximately 1 km southeast of the edge of the village, and is classified as a significant archaeological site.

The former Velké Horky fortress is now a private property that is largely unused and partly inhabited. A prismatic tower is preserved from the original fortress.

The watermill in Strenice also bears witness to the history of the village: it already existed in 1593. Today, it is not maintained and is inaccessible.

Local history and community life

The valley of the Strenický stream indicates settlement since prehistoric times, based on archaeological finds of skeletons and bronze objects. Strenice presumably developed as a settlement along an important transport route that ran through the valley of the Strenický stream.

The municipal archive documents the Strenické posvícení in the years 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2026, thereby evidencing a recurring local festival.
