Luštěnice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
The history of Luštěnice stretches from early settlement to buildings and documents dating back several centuries. Numerous archaeological finds attest to the early settlement of the area where Luštěnice is located today. The oldest documents, dating from 1268, mention Pavel of Luštěnice as the founder of a monastery near Mělník.
Culture and History
The Church of Saint Martin was already a parish church in the 14th century. The present-day Church of Saint Martin dates from 1739 and has been listed among the national cultural monuments since 3 May 1958.
Luštěnice Chateau was probably created at the beginning of the 18th century by rebuilding an older fortress. Between 1760 and 1774, it was remodelled into its present form; today, it is privately owned. An unusual Baroque work of art is the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk, depicting the saint standing on a large fish.
The more recent history includes the former Luštěnice broadcasting station: it was structurally completed and put into operation in 1976, and its operation ended in 1991. The former broadcasting station served as the communications centre of the staff of the Central Group of Forces stationed in Milovice.
Leisure and Exercise
The entire area around Luštěnice is suitable for recreational cycling thanks to its relatively undemanding terrain. Leisure facilities include children's playgrounds by the football pitch, in the swimming pool complex and in the housing estate on Nová Street.
The Slot Racing Club Luštěnice has two race tracks for model cars. The club is the largest model car centre in the Czech Republic.
Surroundings and Transport
Rail services in Luštěnice are provided by České dráhy. In the Zelená district, the northernmost extension of the former Milovice–Mladá military training area in the vicinity of Luštěnice, there is a workout area with fitness equipment next to the allotment colony.
