Kropáčova Vrutice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Kropáčova Vrutice lies on the southern slope of the Košátecký Stream valley. The landscape and local history are reflected in several distinctive features, ranging from botanical sites and a wetland area to historical traces in Krpy.

Nature

Musalova stráň is a 5-hectare botanical site with grass- and shrub-covered slopes, old fruit trees, and communities of heat-loving grasses and herbaceous plants. It is part of the local LBC 294 biocorridor. Hájek includes a 2.6-hectare wetland area and a meadow of approximately 10 hectares. The Vrutický Spring lies at its southeastern edge; its water flows into the Košátecký Stream.

History

The Kropáč family owned Vrutice until 1710. The name “Kropáčova” derives from the name of this owner family. Miroslav Tyrš is also associated with the village: he moved with his mother to relatives in Kropáčova Vrutice, where his mother died in 1838. In 1862, Tyrš founded the Sokol sports association together with Jindřich Fügner.

In Krpy, the exact location of the former fortified manor is uncertain. However, an eastern ditch may have survived, along which a road runs south of the village. Krpy is also home to the originally Gothic Church of the Beheading of Saint John the Baptist, dating from the 13th century and expanded in the Baroque style in the 17th century. The archaeological finds there include prehistoric material and finds from the High Middle Ages.

Getting Around

Kropáčova Vrutice railway station is located on line 070 between Praha-Čakovice and Turnov. Marked cycle route 8146 also passes through the village, connecting the Kokořínsko area with the former Milovice-Mladá military area.
