Doubravička: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Doubravička lies in a gently undulating plain that stretches to the foot of the 508-metre-high Vrátenská hora mountain. This plain is bordered by deep valleys on both sides. The history of the village also goes back a long way: according to tradition, a royal road from Prague Castle via Stará Boleslav to Bezděz passed through Doubravička.

Landscape and Trails

In earlier times, the area around Doubravička was covered by extensive forests and scrubland and interspersed with numerous pools and small ponds. South of the village, the Košátecký stream meanders through the landscape; it is considered a place to rest.

Doubravička lies outside the marked hiking trails. However, there are numerous marked hiking and cycling trails in the surrounding area, although no such route passes through the village. The nearest marked route in the vicinity runs from the railway station in Skalsko towards the Kokořínsko Protected Landscape Area.

History and Villagescape

Doubravička was probably founded in direct connection with a manorial fortress called “Na Zámku”. The former fortified settlement or fortress grounds were destroyed and burned down during the Hussite Wars between 1425 and 1430.

A prominent historic building is House No. 8: the multi-storey farmstead has agricultural buildings and an unusually asymmetrically positioned upper floor. It is documented as a wooden building on the 1842 map of the stable cadastre. There is also a cross in Doubravička’s central public square. A newly built chapel stands at the entrance to Doubravička from the direction of Kovanec.

The Doubravička municipal chronicle was started in 1923 and kept retrospectively from the end of the 19th century until 1951.

Festivals and Places in the Village

The annual events calendar includes two regular dates: on 14 February, the Maškarní ples, a masked ball, takes place. This is followed on 24 May by the Májové posezení, a convivial May festival gathering.

For exercise and play, Doubravička has a sports field and a children’s playground.
