Malé Horky: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Malkov Castle stands on a prominent spur of land above the Strenický stream. A neck ditch encloses the site. Remains of the castle’s railings have been preserved at Malkov Castle.

Culture and History

The history of the village of Malé Horky is closely connected with the history of Malkov Castle. In 1574, Malkov Castle was considered abandoned. In 1548, Malkov and the Malé Horky estate passed to Jan following the division of the property. After that, the owners of Malkov, who called themselves Lords of Malé Horky, changed frequently.

Historical Traces

A former country road led from Nymburk through the Strenické Valley, via Malé Horky, Pětikozly and Katusice to Bezděz and onward across the border to Žitava. A former coach inn still stands in Malé Horky today and is now used as a house. This former coach inn is now Mr Čamler’s house No. 1.

Niměřický vrch [Sovínky] hill is located in the immediate surroundings of Malé Horky. Popluží [Jizerní Vtelno] hill and Sládkovský [Strašnov] hill are also located nearby.
