Nature

The Dymokursko Nature Monument covers the cadastral area of Prodašice. It protects the vegetation of standing waters, wet and dry meadows, oak-hornbeam forests, alder forests, and ash-alder floodplain forests. Protected species include the Siberian iris (Iris sibirica), the middle spotted woodpecker (Dendrocopos medius), the edible frog (Rana esculenta), and the stag beetle (Lucanus cervus).

History

Medieval records place Prodašice within the Dětenice estate. From 1404, the Prodašice estate was held by the brothers Jan and Vilém Okořský of Dětenice, who were also known as Okoř. During the Thirty Years’ War, Prodašice was completely destroyed, leaving not a single building standing.

Spring and Local Tradition

Above the U Karlíčka spring stands a statue of Saint Charles Borromeo. According to local tradition, Prince Karel Anselm of Thurn-Taxis was saved when his runaway horses stopped at the U Karlíčka spring.

Zámrsky [Košík-Tuchom] is a hill in the vicinity of Prodašice. Velký kus [Ujkovice] is also a hill in the vicinity of Prodašice. Valdštejn is a church in the wider regional surroundings of Prodašice. The surroundings of Prodašice are considered very suitable for walking excursions.

Local Traditions

The municipality of Prodašice and the Prodašice Volunteer Fire Brigade traditionally invite people to the Maypole-raising celebration and the burning of the witches’ bonfire.
