Holiday apartment in Přepeře: Landscape and folk architecture

Přepeře is situated in gently rolling countryside in a depression along the Přepeřský potok stream. The depression along the stream forms the spatial setting for a village whose surroundings are characterised by open areas, individual shrubs and the hill by St Isidore. There are also buildings with characteristic gables.

Gentle hills and open fields

The hill by St Isidore forms the natural dominant feature of Přepeře. There are small areas of woodland in the southern part of the cadastral area. Most of the landscape consists of land used for agriculture. Individual shrubs planted as part of the landscape greenery divide these areas. Thus, in Přepeře, an individual elevation, the depression along the Přepeřský potok, small areas of woodland and extensive cultivated areas exist side by side. The open landscape remains the predominant element around the village.

Cycle route and access to Přepeře

The open landscape around Přepeře is suitable for cycling tourism. Marked cycle route No. 8147 runs through the village. Those exploring the surroundings by bicycle travel between the depression along the stream, the hill by St Isidore and the open areas of the cadastral territory.

Access is from the busy II/268 road via III/2681. This road ends in the centre of the village. Those arriving by car reach Přepeře by following this route to the village centre. The access route and the cycle route therefore describe two different ways of moving through the village.

Folk architecture and historic houses

The gables of the buildings are characteristic of the folk architecture of the 18th and 19th centuries. There are also many houses from the second half of the 19th century that are worth seeing as historic buildings. For those interested in culture, the villagescape is therefore defined by characteristic gable forms and numerous historic houses. When looking at the villagescape, the historic houses from the second half of the 19th century stand out alongside the gables.

Historically, Přepeře was a small agricultural village that belonged to the Kost estate. The history of Přepeře has been documented up to the year 1323. Přepeře probably had a fortress, which later fell into disrepair and disappeared. Thus, alongside the surviving houses, the village's early history is also one of Přepeře's historical traces.

The village of Střehom is also located near Přepeře, at the end of the Plakánek Valley. Střehom is a village conservation area of medieval origin.
