Řepov combines physical activity, landscape and history from several different perspectives. The “Řepovská padesátka” has been held since 1994 as the “Memoriál bratra Hodbodě”; the route described begins and ends in Řepov, and more than 100 athletes often take part.

Activities

The “Cyklolávka přes Klenici” project comprised approximately 0.94 km of new cycle path with supplementary infrastructure, including a new rest area, benches and waste bins, as well as a lifting bridge over the Klenice stream. The aim was to promote sustainable transport between Mladá Boleslav, including Škoda Auto a.s., and the suburban municipalities of Řepov, Kolomuty, Plaza, Březno and Židněves.

The “Řepovská padesátka” and the “Cyklolávka přes Klenici” project thus represent different forms of movement: in one case, the event, starting and finishing location, and large number of participants define the scene; in the other, a specific cycle path with a rest area, seating and a lifting bridge does so. The nature trail adds historical content and information boards to these two topics.

If your travel group has a variety of interests, the three examples can be considered independently of one another: the sporting event, the cycle path project between Řepov and the named suburban municipalities, and the cultural and historical nature trail.

Nature

The Klenice stream flows through Řepov; it rises southeast of the municipality. Horka [Plazy] is a hill in the vicinity of Řepov. U Doubku [Dobrovice-Týnec] is a hill in the vicinity of Řepov, and Kněžský [Vinařice u Dobrovice] is also a hill in the vicinity of Řepov. Lysá is a mountain in the wider regional surroundings of Řepov.

The landscape therefore reveals several spatial scales: the Klenice belongs directly to the locality, Horka, U Doubku and Kněžský lie in its immediate surroundings, while Lysá is assigned to the wider regional surroundings. This keeps the differences between the course of the stream, the surrounding hills and the more broadly defined mountain reference clearly recognisable.

Other places

Other places at the same level are Loukovec, Belá Pod Bezdezem, Ptýrov, Horky Nad Jizerou, Brezina, Jizerní Vtelno, Kosmonosy and Smilovice.

Culture

Five burial mounds are registered at the Zákoutí - mohylník archaeological site. Valdštejn Church is located in the wider regional surroundings of Řepov. The “Naučná stezka Řepovem a okolím – putování za prvními zemědělci” nature trail provides information about the early settlement of the area of the present-day municipality of Řepov, as well as about the beginnings and development of agriculture in various historical periods. The nature trail has five stations with information boards.

The historical points of reference differ in form: Zákoutí - mohylník represents an archaeological site with five registered burial mounds, while Valdštejn Church represents a religious building in the wider regional surroundings. The nature trail, by contrast, combines early settlement and the history of agriculture with five stations and information boards. This makes it possible to consider archaeological, religious and explanatory approaches to history separately.
