Mukařov U Jiviny: Holiday apartments and holiday homes
In the centre of Mukařov, the protected complex of Kostel sv. Vavřince stands on the triangular village square. It comprises the church, a bell tower, a cemetery, an enclosing wall and the associated protected plots of land.
Culture and history
The nave of Kostel sv. Vavřince dates from the early 18th century and displays Baroque features. It was restored after a fire on 28 June 1866. The Gothic chancel dates from the 14th century and is one of the oldest in the wider area. In the Mukařov cadastral area, Kostel sv. Vavřince is designated as an immovable cultural monument.
Mukařov was first mentioned in writing in 1352. The village's origins are connected with the colonisation carried out by a nearby Cistercian monastery. The Mukařov-intravilán archaeological area also points to a long history of settlement: it is registered as a ÚAN II category area and covers the period from the Middle Ages to the modern era. In the Mukařov cadastral area, a timber-framed cottage is also designated as a structure of architectural value.
Landscape and trails
Mukařov, with its picturesque houses, lies in an attractive landscape in the valley of the Zábrdka. A green-marked hiking trail runs through the municipality. In the grounds of the Mukařov summer camp, the Cyklopoint is associated with cycle route no. 241 between Praha-Petrovice and Mimoň. In 2008, a Cyklopoint project was launched there to promote cycling tourism in the region.
