Střehom: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Střehom is a village conservation area dating back to the Middle Ages. At the same time, the boundary of the Český ráj Protected Landscape Area runs through the village – a historic village structure and a distinctive landscape boundary meet here directly.

Culture and History

The protected villagescape includes timber-built agricultural farmsteads with upper floors dating from the late 18th century. The farmsteads with house numbers 1, 3, 7 and 11 are protected as cultural monuments of the Czech Republic.

The complex of Střehom’s timber-built water mill, dating from 1516, is particularly distinctive. The water mill has a functional mill wheel. It also served as Petr Máchal’s mill in the fairy-tale film “S čerty nejsou žerty”.

Nature and Trails

The romantic Plakánek Valley, surrounded by rocks, stretches from Střehom via Obora Pond to Kost Castle. The marked hiking trail through the valley is intended exclusively for pedestrians.

The route from Sobotka through Plakánek Valley to Kost Castle passes through the protected village of Střehom with its timber-built multi-storey houses.

A walk through Plakánek Valley from Kost Castle ends at the village of Střehom. It reaches Střehom from Kost Castle via the red trail markers or from Vesec via the blue trail markers, which meet the red route in the valley.

Cycling Route

Střehom is also located on the Trosky–Kost–Malechovice cycling route: the route passes through the village and lists it as one of its stops. It is 42 km long and described as moderately difficult.
