History

Kobylnice is first mentioned in a document from 1227. In 1228, the village belonged to the Convent of St George in Prague; historically, Kobylnice also belonged to the Žerčice parish. In nearby Žerčice, the Kostel sv Mikuláše has been mentioned as a parish church since 1384. The old name Kobylníky is connected with the former keeping and breeding of horses outdoors in so-called “horse fields”.
