Dobrovice’s connection to the sugar industry dates back to the 19th century: sugar has been produced here continuously since 1831. The Dobrovická muzea are dedicated to sugar production, spirits distilling, sugar beet cultivation and the history of Dobrovice.

Culture and History

A guided tour of the Dobrovická muzea includes the exhibitions on sugar production, spirits distilling and sugar beet cultivation. During the molasses campaign, visitors aged six and over can visit the Tereos TTD, a.s. industrial distillery in Dobrovice. The area around Dobrovice is considered the birthplace of sugar beet cultivation in the Czech Republic.

East of Dobrovice’s main square, the Church of Saint Bartholomew forms a closed complex together with the former cemetery and its enclosure. In the wider regional surroundings of Dobrovice lies Valdštejn, a church.

On Site

The observation tower of Dobrovice Town Hall is open every weekday during the opening hours of the information centre. Groups can also visit it at weekends by prior arrangement. On 17 August 2026, the water in the Dobrovice outdoor swimming pool was assessed as suitable for swimming.

Viničný [Dobrovice-Úherce], U Doubku [Dobrovice-Týnec], Kněžský [Vinařice u Dobrovice] and U Křížku [Ctiměřice] are hills in the immediate vicinity of Dobrovice.

The route “Dobrovice – Vinařice – Chloumek – Boží Voda – Bojetice – Dobrovice” is an 11 km circular trail starting and ending in Dobrovice and is a moderately difficult excursion that mainly follows paved paths. The cycling tour “Svatojiřským lesem” is an easy excursion and is suitable for all types of bicycles. The route “Z Dobrovice do Jabkenické obory a zpět” is an 18 km excursion starting and ending in Dobrovice.
