Tuřice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Along the lower Jizera, a sandy riverbed, playful rapids and green banks shape the landscape. Tuřice combines this riverside setting with a well-documented local history, living traditions and routes for cyclists and hikers.

Culture and History

A fortress once stood near the settlement of Tuřice; it is documented as early as 1194 by Zbraslav of Tuřice (“Zbraslaus de Turic”). In the 1469 inheritance register, the fortress of Tuřice is already mentioned as abandoned. Its former site was in the area known as “Na poustkách” and was finally destroyed during the construction of the motorway towards Prague.

A special tradition is the traditional Easter procession with rattles. It replaces the ringing of church bells and uses wooden rattling instruments, including mobile rattle carts. The more recent local history includes the Tuřice road bridge over the Jizera, which was built in 1924.

In the immediate vicinity of Tuřice and Sobětuchy, a hunting monument to Charles VI, known as the Braun monument, stands in Hlavenec; it was erected by Count Špork in 1725.

Cycling

The Greenway Jizera runs along the Jizera. It is suitable for cyclists, hikers and families. A cycle route from Prague towards Liberec also leads through the picturesque landscape and through Tuřice.

Water

The section of the Jizera described near Tuřice is navigable by canoe and kayak almost all year round. The described section of the lower Jizera is also suitable for trips with children.

There is a car park on the right bank of the Jizera near the Tuřice bridge. Above the bridge is a meadow that can be used as a launch area for a river trip.
