Strážiště: Apartments and Holiday Homes

Strážiště is home to two restored or reconstructed examples of local history: the chapel on the village square was reconstructed in 2000 in cooperation with the heritage protection authorities, while the Boží muka wayside shrine ensemble in the Na Březinkách fields was restored in 2002.

Culture and History

Historically, Strážiště was one of the 112 subject villages belonging to Hradiště Cistercian Monastery. In Kozmice, a district of Strážiště, there is also a stone statue of Christ crucified between two angels dating from 1830.

Another site of interest lies in the Zábrdka valley: the ruins of the former Pytlíkovský Mill are located about two kilometres from Strážiště. At the former mill site in the vicinity of Strážiště, the collapsed walls of the building and machinery room, staircases, and traces of the mill race have been preserved.

Finds have been made in the upper section of the Zábrtky valley northwest of Strážiště. The wider regional area also contains the ruins of Starý Berštejn, as well as the Chapel of the Most Holy Trinity, a church, and Valdštejn, a church.

Landscape and Trails

The Kozmice district of Strážiště lies on a plateau between the valleys of the Zábrdka and Mohelka streams. A blue-marked hiking trail runs in the vicinity of Strážiště.

The mountains in the vicinity of Strážiště include Velká Buková and Malá Buková. The wider regional area includes Lysá Mountain and Ještěd Mountain.

Traditions Throughout the Year

The traditional Jarní vánek dance event takes place in Strážiště every year. At the end of November, there is a traditional lantern procession featuring the release of balloons. At the beginning of December, Advent traditionally begins on the village square with the lighting of the Christmas tree.

At the beginning of summer, the traditional Kozmický drn nohejbal tournament takes place in Kozmice; the fire brigade helps organise it.
