Chocnějovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Chocnějovice showcases two different aspects of its local history through the Church of St. Havel and the mill on the Mohelka stream. In addition, several routes pass through the municipality, connecting the village with its regional surroundings.

Culture and History

The Church Complex of St. Havel in Chocnějovice is a registered cultural monument. It includes a cemetery wall with a gate and a cast-iron cross on a stone pedestal. The church itself is an early Gothic building dating from the end of the 13th century and was given a Baroque makeover in the 18th century. It stands on the outskirts of Chocnějovice, on the edge of a hill. Prehistoric finds have also been discovered in its surroundings.

The mill in Chocnějovice was first mentioned in 1603 as a manorial mill. It lies on the Mohelka stream; originally, it also included a sawmill. A weir was reconstructed at the mill site, and the original turbine equipment was put into operation in February 2015.

Water and Landscape

The Jizera, the Mohelka, the Pěnčínský potok, the Malá Mohelka and several unnamed intermittent watercourses flow through the municipality of Chocnějovice.

Routes through Chocnějovice

PID bus route 734 serves the Chocnějovice stop and runs along the Mnichovo Hradiště – Mohelnice nad Jizerou – Chocnějovice – Sezemice corridor.

By bicycle, cycle route 3044 runs from Chocnějovice via Kobyly and Sychrov towards Hodkovice nad Mohelkou and Dlouhý Most. The Žitavská trasa also passes through Chocnějovice and runs by the early Gothic Church of St. Havel. The 149-kilometre route is a pilgrimage and trade route from Zittau to Prague.
