Veselice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
The 18-kilometre-long “In the Footsteps of Ema Destinnová” route passes through Veselice. It runs from Dolní Bousov via Svobodín, Petkovy, Domousnice, Veselice and Vlčí Pole back to Dolní Bousov.
Routes and Trails
A blue-marked hiking trail leads through Veselice and onwards to nearby Domousnice. There is also a described route between Domousnice and Veselice that leads to Domousnice Château. Before the First World War, the château was associated with the opera singer Ema Destinnová’s summer stays; it is currently not accessible.
Landscape and Nature
The Střelečská hůra landform is located near Veselice and is classified as a mountain. In the wider regional surroundings, the Přivýšina landform is likewise classified as a mountain. Closer to the village are the Hladoměř [Dolní Bousov] and Mílová hora [Domousnice] landforms, each classified as a hill.
Near Veselice, the Kopanina hill rises to 374 metres above sea level and offers views of the surrounding landscape. The Křižánky natural monument is a protected area and one of the last known sites of Fuchs’ finger orchid in the Jičín District.
Culture and History
A statue of Saint John of Nepomuk stands in the fields south of Veselice. The Jewish cemetery near Veselice was probably established around the middle of the 18th century. It preserves gravestones from the first half of the 19th century and belonged to the Jewish religious community in Domousnice.
Valdštejn, a church site, is located in the wider regional surroundings of Veselice.
