Niměřice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Niměřice combines a late Neoclassical château with a multifaceted local history, a chapel with preserved architectural details, and a tranquil landscape along the Strenický potok stream. The combination of these elements alone makes the town a distinctive destination in Central Bohemia.
Culture and History
The first written mention of Niměřice dates back to 1354. At that time, there was a farm here belonging to Adam of Niměřice. A fortress once stood on the site of today’s château. Jan Weithof had the late Neoclassical château built in 1832. The building has two wings arranged in an L shape; its defining details include a roof belfry and a clock.
The town’s history also includes a literary and musical connection: in the summer of 1862, Bedřich Smetana stayed at Niměřice Château with his wife. The château is privately owned and well maintained. The grounds open their gates only for events such as weddings, celebrations, or conferences.
Opposite the château gate stands the pseudo-Romanesque Chapel of the Coronation of the Virgin Mary, dating from 1864. Remnants of paintings have been preserved above the entrance portal and inside. The chapel also retains an original entrance bearing the year 1812.
Nature
The listed château grounds include an extensive English park enclosed by a perimeter wall with gates. Niměřice lies on the banks of the Strenický potok stream. The area around its course includes low-lying woods suitable for recreation.
Walking and Cycling Routes
Cycle routes 8157 and 143 run in the vicinity of Niměřice. A regularly maintained path also leads from Niměřice along the trackbed of a disused railway to the outskirts of Dolní Cetno.
