Ostrá: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Ostrá represents a combination of nature, culture and waterways. The distinctive features of the place appear in many different forms.

Nature

The Mydlovarský luh Nature Reserve is partly located within the cadastral territory of Ostrá. It is one of the last preserved complexes of floodplain forests in the Elbe region and protects floodplain forests, former Elbe channels, wetlands, mown meadows and the naturally meandering Farský potok stream.

Culture and History

The Libuše Tržická Stone Museum in Ostrá presents several dozen stones from the 19th and 20th centuries. The Mydlovar castle ruin in Ostrá is a rare castle built entirely of bricks, with an outer enclosing wall. The remains of Mydlovar Castle include an oval fortified area with several systems of water fortifications, as well as remnants of the masonry. Mydlovar Castle was founded around the second half of the 13th century and had already been recorded as abandoned before 1561.

Trails and Water

The blue-marked hiking trail runs through the southern part of Ostrá, follows the eastern shore around the bathing water and continues through the holiday settlement of Buda on the right bank of the Elbe and through Mydlovarský luh. The yellow-marked hiking trail runs along the right bank of the Elbe from the holiday settlement of Buda to the bridge over the river in Lysá nad Labem.

Getting There and the Wider Surroundings

Ostrá railway stop is located on the Prague–Lysá nad Labem–Kolín line and provides access to Botanicus. The Semická hůra hill (Semice nad Labem) is located in the immediate vicinity of Ostrá. The hills of Kateřina (Milovice nad Labem), Holý (Chrást u Poříčan) and Na Čilečku (Straky) are also located in the vicinity of Ostrá. The Church of U Svatého Vojtěcha is located in the wider regional surroundings of Ostrá.
