Poděbrady combines mineral springs, bodies of water, Elbe region history and paths along the river. Poděbradka is a natural mineral water and a natural healing spring used by the local spa facilities. The Boček mineral spring is located in the Libenský Colonnade.

Culture and History

The permanent exhibition “The Story of the Elbe Region” at the Polabské Museum in Poděbrady explores life in the Bronze Age, Roman period and Migration Period in the Elbe region. In the same museum, visitors can mint a souvenir in the form of a denarius; in the play area, they can try grinding with prehistoric mills and drilling into the head of a stone axe.

Poděbrady Castle developed from an early Gothic castle built in the second half of the 13th century. It houses a monument to King George of Poděbrady as well as exhibitions about his life and legacy. The Památník krále Jiřího z Poděbrad is located in the oldest part of Poděbrady’s medieval castle.

The Poděbrady flower clock dates from 1936. Using seedlings, it displays the current date in addition to the time. The Film Legends Museum in Poděbrady is located right in the city centre.

The programme of the Ludvík Kuba Gallery in Poděbrady includes art exhibitions as well as a guided tour with commentary, “Na Rozcestí”, with Adam Jílek.

Nature

Poděbrady Lake is a sandy lake with grassy areas near the centre of Poděbrady. Rowing boats and pedal boats can be hired at the lake. There is also a paddleboard rental service with a wide selection of boards for beginners and advanced users.

The Lázeňský Park in Poděbrady is the centre of the local spa facilities and invites visitors to take walks. Visitors can stroll through Lázeňský Park.

Visitors can enjoy a scenic cruise on the “Král Jiří” excursion boat.

Routes

The Elbe Cycle Route from Kolín to Poděbrady runs along the Elbe and Cidlina rivers and ends at Poděbrady’s spa promenade. The relevant section of the Elbe Cycle Route is suitable for inline skaters and family outings.
