Chotesice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Chotěšice is located in the flat Polabian Lowland. The first historical mention of the village dates back to 26 September 1199. Several farm buildings from the 19th century have also been preserved in the village.

Culture and Village Character

West of the centre of Chotěšice, on the road to Břístev and on elevated ground, stands the Church of the Sending of the Holy Apostles, which forms a prominent feature of the landscape. In addition to the church, the protected church complex includes the mortuary, the cemetery boundary wall and the associated plots of land. The cemetery contains several high-quality sandstone tombstones from the second half of the 19th century, particularly in its western section.

The present-day Baroque Church of the Sending of the Holy Apostles was built between 1746 and 1748 and repaired between 1817 and 1820 and again in 1844. The single-nave building has a rectangular presbytery and a tower on the eastern side. Chotěšice also has a monument to the Crucifixion.

In the Malá Strana district, a statue of the Virgin Mary from 1876 stands on a Neo-Gothic pedestal. Nová Ves is home to a solid stone cross with Christ dating from 1845, log house No. 5 from the early 19th century and a two-room log granary. Several picturesque log houses can be found in Břístev.

The municipality sells honey from its municipal apiary.

Landscape and Waterways

The Smíchovský stream flows through Chotěšice. On the dam of the Vražda pond stand a pear tree designated as a natural monument and two pedunculate oaks estimated to be around 300 years old. In the Malá Strana district, a pair of black poplars stands about 50 metres from Slatinka pond.

Near Nouzov, remnants of a near-natural floodplain forest can be found around Komárovský pond. The forests and ponds around Chotěšice are used intensively for fish farming and the keeping of waterfowl and are therefore not suitable for swimming.
