The archaeological site “Štěrkovna I”, identified by the code 13-13-10/8, is located in the territory of Kostomlátky and dates from the Neolithic period. The entire administrative area of the municipality of Kostomlátky is considered an area with archaeological finds.
Culture and History
The village square in Kostomlátky is home to a chapel, a sacred monument. It has a square floor plan, a pyramidal roof and a belfry set on top of it. According to the inscription, the chapel dates from 1896. A memorial plaque commemorating local people who fell in the First World War is attached to it. The cross on the village square is also considered an architecturally valuable structure. The gate of the farmstead No. 6 in Kostomlátky is likewise considered an architecturally valuable structure.
Nature and Trails
The supraregional biocorridor 10 “Stříbrný roh – Polabský luh” has been designated in the area of Kostomlátky. The blue-marked Nymburk–Dražice hiking trail runs through the built-up area. EuroVelo 4 also passes through the area of Kostomlátky, following cycle route No. 24 there.
Water
The lock chamber in Kostomlátky measures 85.0 × 12.0 metres. The original weir at Kostomlátky was built between 1933 and 1937. The reservoir created by the weir can be used for water sports and recreation. The navigable waterway “Labská vodní cesta” is designated on the Elbe in the area of Kostomlátky.
Hiking
The 11th edition of the hiking event “Stezka Bohumila Hrabala – memoriál Františka Znamenáčka” was announced for 13 June 2026. The 10-kilometre route was to run from Kostomlaty nad Labem via the Labská cycle path and Kostomlátky to Nymburk.
