Kounice: Vacation Apartments and Holiday Homes

Kounice combines a multifaceted history of its château with preserved buildings, landscapes, and local traditions. Kounice Château stands on the site of a former, presumably medieval fortress. Between 1612 and 1634, under Jan Rudolf Trčka, the fortress in Kounice was rebuilt and expanded into a three-winged Renaissance château. In 1719, the château was remodeled in the Baroque style; this is indicated by a chronogram on the château gate.

Culture and History

The protected heritage complex of the Church of St. James the Greater includes the grounds of the former cemetery, a surrounding wall with two gates, a staircase in front of the church, and a statue of St. John of Nepomuk.

Among Kounice’s preserved monuments is the former malt house. Sladovna – Panský pivovar is an original Renaissance brewery from the second half of the 16th century. The brewing tradition in Kounice was revived when a batch of Kounický ležák was brewed for the first time in 112 years.
