Žitovlice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Žitovlice and Pojedy lie between Rožďalovice and Křinec in a gently hilly landscape. The Doubravanský stream crosses both villages from north to south; its water feeds the Žitovlický pond and the Pojedský pond. The Žitovlický pond lies north of the elevation with the church and, together with it, forms a unique landscape composition.

Culture and History

The Church of Saint Wenceslas in Žitovlice is a late Baroque building constructed in 1769–1772 and restored in 1863. It includes an enclosed area with a former cemetery and damaged gravestones. Žitovlice is first documented historically in 1352. The Valdštejn Church is also located in the wider regional area around Žitovlice.

Villagescape

Pojedy preserves single-storey timber-framed buildings from the late 18th and early 19th centuries, as well as brick houses dating from around the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. A forge from the late 18th century stands in the centre of the village green. The listed rural property No. 36 probably dates from the first half of the 19th century; it is an almost intact example of traditional rural timber construction and an important part of the historic villagescape.

Landscape and Cycling

U Borku Mountain [Záhornice u Městce Králové] is located in the vicinity of Žitovlice. The nearby area around Žitovlice includes Podlužanský kopec hill [Rožďalovice-Podlužany], Kuncberk hill [Křinec], and Holoviska hill [Křinec-Sovenice]. The “Rožďalovickým okolím” cycling route runs from Doubravany via Žitovlice to Křinec.
