Jiřice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The stone bell tower in Jiřice bears the year 1818. As a protected cultural heritage structure, it is one of the few surviving buildings from the original settlement.

History and Townscape

The first written mention of Jiřice dates back to 1479. During the German occupation, the municipality was forcibly resettled between 1940 and 1945, practically destroyed and rebuilt after the war. Jiřice has a memorial commemorating the forced resettlement of the municipality during these years.

The war memorial in Jiřice commemorating those who fell in the First World War was ceremonially reopened in September 2023 after renovation. The parents of Josef Bašus lived at Jiřice No. 6.

The local monuments on the village square in Jiřice include a stone cross and a Boží muka, a Czech wayside shrine.

Landscape and Protected Area

A map from 1720 depicts Jiřice as a small village surrounded by forests. Approximately half of the municipality's territory consists of mixed forests, while the other half comprises intensively farmed agricultural areas with scattered greenery.

The Mladá protected area includes parts of the cadastral territories of Jiřice and Milovice nad Labem; in these cadastral territories, it protects, among other things, grassland and shrub ecosystems.
