Culture and History

The first written mention of Stratov dates back to 1357. In the middle of the 14th century, Půta z Častolovic founded the village. Nearby Mydlovar is first mentioned in the archives in 1223.

The chapel of the “Nejsvětější Trojice Boží” (“Nejsvětější Trojice”) commemorates the plague of 1772, which claimed the lives of seven people in Stratov. It is an octagonal central building with four segmental-arch windows and a simple entrance. Its tented roof is topped by a small bell tower with an onion dome.

Nature

The Mydlovarský luh nature reserve is located near Stratov, between Ostrá and Kostomlaty nad Labem. It protects floodplain forests, old Elbe river channels, wetlands, and the naturally meandering Farský potok, and is one of the last remaining floodplain forest complexes in the Polabí region.

Local Life

The “Stratovské zahradní slavnosti” are documented as a recurring local event. The fourth edition took place in 2025; the fifth edition is announced for September 12, 2026.

In Stratov, the “Zóna klidu a pohybu” recreation area with a children’s playground is located in the Za Radostí II. area.

Getting Around

Stratov is connected by rail and bus services. A cycling educational trail runs along the Elbe. The excursion to the Mydlovarský luh educational trail begins in Ostrá; alternatively, Stratov railway station is listed as an access point.
