Sloveč: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Sloveč showcases its history at prominent sites and in vibrant traditions. Next to the school stands a memorial to those who fell in the First World War. It was unveiled in 1921 and bears a commemorative plaque for the local legionnaires.

Culture

At the center of the historic village green stands the Church of St. Martin, a Neo-Romanesque church dating from 1886. In front of the church is a statue of the Virgin Mary with the infant Jesus, created by Kofránek of Vojice in 1875. Near the former school stands a statue of the Crucified Christ, created by F. Stýbla in 1857. Sloveč is also home to a stone cross, a work by stonemason Karel Kofránek dating from 1857.

On the road to Městec Králové stands a monument to the land reform of the First Republic.

Traditions

Sloveč celebrates a pilgrimage on Corpus Christi, a Marian pilgrimage on September 12, and the St. Martin church feast on November 11. The traditional Jiřinkové dny offer free admission to a plantation with 1,500 plants in more than 300 varieties.

Nature

A stream rising in the forest flows through Sloveč and feeds the local ponds.

Geographical setting

Neither a hiking trail nor a cycling route runs through Sloveč. The village is served regularly by bus connections to Městec Králové and Nový Bydžov.
